Pallisa. Police in Pallisa District are investigating the killing of a man whose body was dumped into a swamp, sparking intercommunity clashes between Kidongole and Kanginima villages.
Local sources said John Elungat, a resident of Kosire village, Kajamaka parish in Kidongole Sub-county, Bukedea District, was killed by a man from Kadalac village in Pallisa, who accused him of having a love affair with his wife, Annet Nazige.
After the killing, tension built up despite several interventions by security agencies.
Last week’s security crisis meeting called to defuse the tension between the leaders of both communities at Kidongole Sub-county headquarters flopped as the Bukedea team failed to turn up, sparking violence.

Kajamaka residents, armed with machetes, stormed Kadalac village in Kanginima in Pallisa and burnt 10 huts and looted property, including 14 head of cattle, 49 goats and poultry.
Bukedi region police spokesperson Sowali Kamulya confirmed the clashes and said police were on ground to stop further attacks.
