IGP Kayihura, internal affairs state minister appear before defence committee of Parliament

The inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura and state minister of internal affairs Obiga Kania are appearing before the defence committee of Parliament to answer several questions including those on the numerous arrests, increasing insecurity in the country and poor police welfare.
In his opening remarks, the IGP told MPs: “We live in times when terrorism is a reality. We are operating in an environment with challenges of increasing criminality and terrorism, both international and national. I hope you will give me chance to make presentation on this topic.” The IGP told MPs that following recent attacks in the Greater Masaka region, several suspects were arrested and are to be charged in court.”
