Jobless youth storm police station, demand release of suspects

JINJA – Members of the Jobless Brotherhood, a pressure group have stormed Jinja Police Station, demanding the immediate release of their colleagues who were arrested by the Police over the weekend for allegedly calling the Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga, a pig.
The National Coordinator of the Jobless Brotherhood, Mr Norman Tumuhimbise and his associates on Tuesday told the Jinja District Police Commander, Mr Felix Mugize that they want Mr Augustine Ojobile and Mr Robert Mayanja released unconditionally or else

Business was on Monday afternoon shortly paralysed along Kampala Road, Opposite Uganda House after three yellow painted piglets were found abandoned on the road by activists believed to be members of the Jobless Brotherhood
.
Mr Augustine Ojobile and Robert Mayanja were arrested on the orders of Jinja Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Erick Sakwa, after allegedly calling Ms Rebecca Kadaga a pig while on a radio talk show in Jinja.
“We want to warn Ms Kadaga that we have since withdrawn the tittle honourable from her because of her unbefitting conduct,” Mr Tumuhimbise said in an interview. “Since we are unemployed, we have a lot of time in our hands unlike her. We are aware that she is going to open a hospital, she shouldn’t be surprised when she is greeted by a 1,000 piglets there if our concerns are not responded to”.
Asked whether the Police were coerced into arresting the members of the Jobless Brotherhood, Mr Felix Mugizi, said: “We are not under the orders of anyone. We are working under the law. These youths were inciting violence.”
Mr Mugizi said they have sent their case files to the State Attorney and are waiting for advice before producing them in courts of law.
The duo are currently being held at Nalufenya Police Detention Centre
