Kampala- Two journalists working for local station, Radio Two commonly known as Akaboozi Ku Bbiri have been suspended pending investigations against them.

According to the journalists’ rights body, the Human Rights Network for journalists Uganda (HRNJ), the radio management, in separate telephone calls on Sunday, suspended Abby Ssewakiryanga, also known as Bassajja Mivule, and Simon Kaggwa, alias Njala.

“We have instituted an investigation to find out the source and cause of the suspension and pressure with a view of planning for legal steps to take against the perpetrators,” said Mr Robert Ssempala, the national coordinator of HRNJ-U.

Radio One administrator Jeff Kiwanuka declined to comment when contacted last evening.

Mr Ssempala described the move as government success in cracking down on critical media practitioners with the help of managers.
