The police in Kabale are holding a 70-year-old man and his 60-yeard-old wife for allegedly killing their 24- year-old son.

The police spokesman for Kigezi Sub-region, Mr Elly Maate, on Monday confirmed the arrest, saying the incident happened on Saturday.

He said the deceased was a resident of Ikumba Cell, Shebeya Hamurwa Sub-county.
Mr Maate said the suspects were jointly accused with their other son aged 30.

“It’s alleged that the parents went to drink at Ikumba trading centre with the deceased, and the parents went back home at around 6.30pm. But at around 8.30pm when the deceased returned, he found that they locked themselves inside the house,” Mr Maate said.

The fight
“He started banging the door, which angered the parents. His brother appeared and the deceased threatened to attack them with a panga. In the process, the late was overpowered and beaten with a piece of firewood, and also slashed on the arm, killing him.”

Mr Maate said the body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem. He appealed to the public to desist from irresponsible consumption of alcohol.
