Kabale couple injured in failed robbery incident dies

A man, Francis Baryarugamu, and his wife Zam, who were shot and injured by gunmen riding a motorcycle have died two days after they were hospitalised.

The robbers attacked the couple as they returned from their shop located at Kabale central market at around 8:40pm. They demanded that the couple surrender a polythene bag they were carrying, in anticipation that it contained money. However the thugs were disappointed to find the bag contained watermelon. They dumped it in the middle of the road and took off in the opposite direction.

The incident happened at Bataka cell in Southern Division of Kabale municipality.

“The injured couple that had been referred and admitted at Mbarara regional referral hospital died on Thursday at around 11am. As the police we are doing our best to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and charged accordingly. We appeal to the public to volunteer information on the whereabouts of these thugs,” Mr Maate said.
