Sheikh Kaabu Lule has been sworn in as the acting district Kadhi for Kabale Muslim community amidst protests.

The outgoing district Kadhi, Sheikh Bujara, and his team have accused Sheikh Lule of being a “foreigner” from Isingiro District and their favourite is Mr Kasiim Kamugisha, who is currently studying Islamic laws in Saudi-Arabia.

The mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Ramathan Mubajje, yesterday presided over the swearing-in of Sheikh Lule as the acting district Kahdi at Kirigime Mosque in Kabale Town. He asked him to unite all the Muslims in the district and also lead to development.

In less than a month, the college of sheiks shall confirm your appointment to become a full district Kadhi,” Sheikh Mubajje said.

However, the outgoing Kadhi, Sheikh Bujara, boycotted the function, saying the new leader Kadhi was not his choice.

“I cannot attend such a function because the acting Kadhi is being imposed on us by the Muslim headquarters instead of our choice Sheik Kasiim Kamugisha who is the son of this land,” he said.
