Kamuli District, the home of the new Kyabazinga, went in wild celebrations after announcement of Prince William Nadiope Gabula IV as the Busoga Kyabazinga.
The sleepy town was lit up as motorcycle riders joined by commuter taxis celebrated on the streets of Kamuli Town, singing, hooting and blowing vuvuzelas.
Prince Gabula after he was presented to the Basoga, was whisked away to his home and is expected to be presented to the Lukiiko [Busoga parliament] today.
At a trans-night party organised for the celebrations, Mr Felix Esoku, the Kamuli District chief administrative officer and the speaker of the Busoga Lukiiko, offered free drinks to revellers who danced the night away.
A camp was set up by Mr Daudi Kulaba at Budhumbula Palace with a number of goats slaughtered for the night. Revellers sang songs praising the new Kyabazinga.
The Kyabazinga-elect later appeared at Last Chance Bar greeting elated subjects.
The Bugabula Palace spokesperson, Mr Grace Terwane, thanked the subjects on behalf of the new Kyabazinga-elect, saying they were now at the tail-end of a long journey.
The partying in much of the district continued late into the wee hours of the night. Busoga has not had a substantive Kyabazinga since 2008.
