City businessman Desh Kananura is expected to appear before the City Hall Grade One Magistrate with three of his co-accused today over the killing of his employee last year.

Mr Kananura, Mr Cyrus Maganda, 29, Mr Samuel Muzulewa, 26, and Mr Jacob Onyango, 40, allegedly beat to death Badru Kateregga, who was a bar attendant at Panamera Bar.

Mr Kananura was arrested last Thursday at Entebbe International Airport after arriving from the United Kingdom.

Last week, the Grade One Magistrate, Ms Harriet Hatanga, remanded Mr Kananura’s co-accused to today, saying she could not proceed because one of the suspects was still on the run.

“You will still be remanded further until January 21, since your co-accused is still on the run,” Ms Hatanga said.

Investigations
At the weekend, Mr Kananura was taken back to Panamera Bar where the crime allegedly happened to help detectives reconstruct the scene of crime.

He has also recorded a statement which will be attached to the case file and presented to the Director of Public Prosecutions to give his advice before the suspect is taken to court.

Any person who is convicted of murder faces a maximum penalty of death.
In a statement, Mr Kananura denied killing Kateregga, saying the deceased was involved in a fight with his colleague.

It is alleged Mr Kananura, his brother Mr Raymond Kananura, and others still at large beat to death Katerega after he was found with an amount of money exceeding that allowed to be held by any worker on duty in their bar.

Another bar attendant, Mr Kenneth Kirenzi was also beaten with a gun butt and is admitted to a hospital in Namirembe, Kampala.
