KAMPALA. Police on Monday announced that Muyenga Police Station which was started by Gen Kale Kayihura is to be demolished by closure of this week.
According to the Police spokesperson, Mr Emilian Kayima, the station shall be put down because the owner of the land on which the police station sits, wants to repossess it. Police said a meeting was held on Sunday where Muyenga residents were informed about the developments.
“This police station sits on someone’s land and the owner wants to repossess it. As police we have taken a decision to remove it and all officers from this station shall be taken to other nearby stations,” Mr Kayima said.
Mr Kayima added close to 100 officers who have been attached to the station shall be redeployed at Bukasa, Kisugu and Kabalagala Police stations.

“Many residents were annoyed by the announcement and accused police of trying to eliminate Gen Kayihura’s works in Kampala. The locals said they know the owner of the land and he has denied police reports that he wants to repossess it,” a source at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS), told this reporter.
“We are advising Muyenga residents to use Bukasa and Kisugu police stations or go to Kabalagala Division. We are not going to close these [Kisugu & Bukasa] two stations as it is being circulated by locals. It is only Muyenga Police Station that has been affected,” Mr Kayima said.

“The kidnappers called the children’s father demanding for money. He alerted police and a hunt was launched. The suspects were intercepted in Kireka and have since been detained at Kira Division police headquarters,” Mr Owoyesigyire said.
Police have also arrested two electronic dealers in Kampala business centre for allegedly selling suspected stolen electronic gadgets. The suspects currently detained at CPS were found selling 21 laptops, 10 monitors and 5 TV sets with government and private firm logos and markings.
