Kayihura betrayed us, says Minister Nadduli

Minister without Portfolio Abdu Nadduli has described the reign of former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura as a betrayal to the country because he failed to perform to public expectations, which led to a wave of kidnaps and murders.
“The reality remains that Kayihura betrayed us by leaving and abandoning his cardinal role entrusted to him by the President, which culminated in a wave of murders and kidnaps,” Hajj Nadduli said at the coronation anniversary of Bagwere cultural leader John Chrysostom Weyabire at Budaka Saza Grounds on Saturday. He also said those agitating for President Museveni’s exit should wait a bit longer because his departure may result in regrettable consequences.
“Ugandans will at one time regret if they force President Museveni out of power, which I think will not happen, but I hope at a later time, he [Museveni] will retire and give us a heir but not through this propaganda,” he added.
The minister urged the Bagwere to support their cultural institution because it is a unifier that will foster development.
Appeal on unity
“These kingdoms are not created by President Museveni but are only resurrected. Government has taken on cultural institutions as societies to be used as a channel for the Operation Wealth Creation programme,” Hajj Nadduli said.
Budaka District Woman MP Nasiyo Pamela Kamugo urged people to stop mixing politics with cultural issues, arguing that this will hinder development.
Mr Weyabire assumed the throne on July 6, 2013, and is among the 13 cultural institutions that were gazetted on May 6, 2014.
