KAMPALA. The Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura has replaced the commandant of Professional Standards Unit just three weeks after he appointed him.
Gen Kayihura appointed ACP John William Okalany, the new commandant of Professional Standards Unit replacing Senior Commissioner Good Mwesigwa.
“I have transferred ACP John William Okalany from the directorate of HR & LS and appointed him as commandant PSU,” Gen Kayihura said.
Mr Mwesigwa was appointed the commandant of PSU in December replacing embattled Joel Aguma, who is on remand in Makindye Military Prison on allegations of kidnapping Rwandan refugees.
In a police message sent on Wednesday, Gen Kayihura said the transfer takes immediate effect.
The transfer comes after PSU officers arrested police officers at Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters, who were investigating a city businessman suspected of conning Shs80m from a trader.
