The Queen Mother of Tooro Kingdom, Best Kemigisa, has asked court to order her former lawyer, Mr Bob Kasango to pay her Shs3.5 billion, which was part of the money the lawyer received on her behalf.

In the witness statement filed before the High Court in Kampala, Ms Kemigisa alleges that Shs3.5 billion was part of the Shs4.5 billion she was meant to receive from the government as compensation for her land.

Ms Kemigisa accuses Mr Kasango of diverting her money to himself when he remitted only Shs1 billion out of over Shs4.5 billion and became elusive thereafter.

She alleges the said money is in connection with instruction to the lawyer (Kasango) to receive Shs4.5 billion from government paid by the ministries of Justice and that of Lands as compensation for her land.

Ms Kemigisa asserts that she instructed Mr Kasango to represent her in the purchase of land in Munyonyo as well as receiving monies worth Shs500 million on her behalf from the government for purchase of the said house.

“At the time of purchasing the house, the defendant confirmed to me that government had approved and paid to him on my behalf the Shs500 million from gender. I did not touch this money physically and I believed him when he told me that he had received the said sum form the government,” reads the statement in part.
