Kampala- The High Court has denied bail to the sister-in-law of Australia-based Ugandan cardiologist Aggrey Kiyingi over terrorism charges.

Ms Aisha Nakasibante and 10 others are accused of several counts of crimes against humanity, including the recent murder of two Muslim sheikhs Abdul Kadir Muwaya and Mustafa Bahiiga and the attempted murder of Sheikh Haruna Jjemba.
However, Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi last Friday ruled that the offences Ms Nakasibante is charged with are serious and that she is neither too old nor too sick to handle prison conditions.

The judge added that the accused also failed to prove ownership of a house in Namagoma, Nsangi Sub-county in Wakiso District where she claimed she would be easily traced when granted temporary freedom.

Ms Nakasibante had applied for bail through her lawyer, Mr Ladslaus Rwakafuuzi, asserting that she had an eight-year -old child to take care of.
However, Justice Muhanguzi dismissed her bail application on grounds that the child is old enough to live under the care of her relatives. He also directed prosecution to decide on a date when the case will be heard since investigations are complete.

Prosecution contends that Dr Kiyingi, through Ms Nakasibante, offered training, recruitment and logistical support to former ADF rebels who were reportedly hired to murder the shiekhs.
