Kool & The Gang  to perform in Kampala

American jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, funk music group, Kool & The Gang, will be in town come November 12th, thanks to Talent Africa and Silk Events. The musical gang is billed for old skool jams like Celebration, Cherish, Fresh, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness, Get down on It, and Ladies Night.

According to Talent Africa’s Aly Allibhai, the concert will be a sure trip down memory lane.

 “Ugandan should get ready for one of the biggest concerts of all time.  At Talent Africa we are dedicated to bringing the best in worldwide entertainment right here to the Pearl of Africa. Kool & The Gang is coming with their full band and their stage performance is out of this world. People should get ready to celebrate,” he explained.

“Kool & The Gang are living legends. They will have Ugandans of all ages dancing this November. The production for this show will be mind-blowing and we have already started preparations for a mega show,” Elvis Sekyanzi, Managing Director of Silk Events, who will produce the show, said.

Kool & The Gang has sold over 70 million albums worldwide. The group had people dancing since 1969 and during the last five decades, they have won two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.

Formed by Robert "Kool" Bell, his brother Ronald Bell and a bunch of their New Jersey teenage friends in the mid-60s who were then called the Jazziacs. Members include Claydes Smith, Clifford Adams, Curtis Williams, Dennis D.T. Thomas, Don Boyce, Earl Toon, Jr., George Brown, Michael Ray, Otha Nash, Robert ‘Kool’ Bell, Ronald Bell and Skip Martin.
