Kyegegwa- Three suspects accused of participating in the attack on Mungu Mwema Pentecostal Church in Kyegegwa District last month have died at Kyegegwa Health Centre IV.

The suspects were admitted to the hospital last week after being arrested from their hideout in Ibambaro Forest. They had reportedly sustained injuries in a fight with residents who were pursuing them.

Security officials have identified the deceased as Hasn Mubarak Uwera, 29, Nionsenga Ibrahim Tulole,23, and Abdulsalaam Akunzimaana,28.

According to Ms Allen Kaitesi, the assistant administrator at the health centre, the suspects were brought to the facility when their health had deteriorated.

“They had multiple injuries. We tried to rescue their lives in vain,” she said.
Their bodies have been taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, calm is slowly returning to Kyaribuni in Hapuyo Sub-county, the area of the attack.
The LC I chairperson, Mr Omuhereza Bangirana, said a heavy security deployment in the area has restored order.

Senior police and military officials also addressed residents last weekend and assured them of security.

The Rwenzori region army spokesperson, Lt Ninsiima Rwemijuma, said operations are ongoing to establish the identities of the attackers.

Two other suspects are detained at Kyegegwa Police Station.
