MUBENDE. Police have arrested Mubende Resident District Commissioner Florence Beyunga to help with investigations into how a Chinese company was assisted to evict people from seven villages in the District.

The Justice Catherine Bamugemereire-led Commission of Inquiry into Land matters, which is currently conducting inquiries in Mubende District, says police must record a statement from the RDC.

A Resident District Commissioner represents the President in a district, chairs the security committee and monitors implementation of government programmes and, as such, the arrest is a significant development locally. News of the arrest is fast spreading in the district to the surprise of many.

President Museveni appointed the commission to inquire into land matters, policies and make recommendations for reforms.
