The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party officials in Luweero District have been forced to vacate their rented offices over alleged unpaid rent arrears for nine months.
The offices are located opposite the district headquarters.

The landlord under Ms Kasoma and Sons on Wednesday afternoon stormed the NRM offices in company of the area Chairperson for Lumu Zone Mr Ssaka Kisekka and directed the district party registrar, Mr David Kamugisha and the district administrative Secretary, Ms Maria Goreti Naiga to move out of the office after explaining to them his intention to lock up the room until they clear rent arrears amounting to Shs1.8 million.

“ I am acting on behalf of M/S Kasoma and sons who own the building and are demanding rent arrears which have accumulated to Shs1.8 million. Locking up the office would not be the best alternative but all your bosses have decided to ignore the constant reminders to have the rent arrears cleared,” Mr Mahad Ssemambo, the Kasoma Estate Manager explained before forcing the officials out of the office.
Mr Ssemambo explained that he had tried to reach out to several NRM top officials at the party headquarters on Kyadondo Road in Kampala including Luweero District NRM boss, Mr Ronald Ndawula among other officials who only told him to be patient.

Mr David Kamgisha, the District NRM Registrar said the action by their landlord to have the offices locked were harsh and directed to the wrong people because the rent is not paid by the district NRM officials but the party headquarters.” Forcing us out of the building was not the best action. He was supposed to write to us before locking the office,” Kamugisha said.
