Lightning strikes church, 6 worshipers injured

Lightning on Sunday afternoon struck a church where Christians were praying and injured six people.
The LC3 female youth representative to Aromo sub-county council Ms Vicky Angwech said those injured were Mr Okello Ojuku, Ms Judith Apio, Ms Ketty Obong and Ms Molly Ocen, plus two unidentified people.

She said lightning struck Kulu Obia Pentecostal Assembly of God Church in Walela parish in Aromo Sub-county at around 8pm on Sunday.
“It was during a light shower when all of a sudden we hard thunder striking the church where born-again Christians were praying. Many people who were in the church got the electric shock, but only four people suffered serious burns and they were rushed to a private clinic,” Ms Angwech told Daily Monitor on Monday.

The LClll chairman of Aromo sub-county Mr David Elich said he is in touch with those who were injured and they are out of danger. He said he talked to the person treating them who assured him that they are recovering and could be discharged by Tuesday.

He asked church leaders and school authorities to ensure installing lightning arresters on all public buildings to protect worshipers and pupils from lightning.
