4: 28 EAT: Gen Muntu gets a standing ovation at the end of his campaign

4: 26 EAT: He tells FDC delegates that with the grace of God, they will not only win but also take power if he becomes the flag bearer.

4: 23: Gen. Muntu says he is strong at strategy and he never gets involved in useless debates and struggles. He says if the party goes into elections without being organised, it will be cheated. He says his good strategy will ensure that cheating by NRM fails.

4: 16 EAT: I went to the bush when I was only 23 years, I became the commander of the army at 29. But my feet remained on the ground and focussed. I am not a Museveni agent and when such talk was circulated, nothing stopped me and to date, I have never handed the party to Mr Museveni.

4: 12 EAT: He says the concentration of the party should be mobilising resources and capacity to field candidates at all leadership levels right from village level to presidency.

4: 09 EAT: Gen Muntu says he believes in civil disobedience and other methods to remove NRM but the moment they are not organised, they will be defeated or dispersed.

4: 05 EAT: He says FDC needs institutional capability. He says Museveni does not fear strong individuals like Mbabazi, Besigye or any opposition politician but strong institutions. He says that's the reason why Mr Museveni is always donating to religious groups to get their support because they are organised.

3: 57 EAT: Gen Muntu begins his campaigns by introducing his wife and other key members of his campaign team as well as other senior party members.

3: 54 EAT: Mr Katuntu says Gen Muntu appointed the current leader of opposition in Parliament Wafula Oguttu who never supported him for the party presidency which means the former army commander is a leader who can unite the party.

3: 51 EAT: Bugweri County MP Abdu Katuntu also nominates Gen Muntu. He says the process the party is going through is a family contest that should not divide supporters.

3: 44 EAT: Gen Mugisha Muntu's campaign manager Angeline Osege, the woman MP for Soroti District takes to the podium to nominate him. She describes Gen Muntu as the "Joshua of our time" who took the people of Israel to the promised land.

3: 48 EAT: Dr Besigye ends his campaign

3:38 EAT: He says the losses he has suffered as a party flag bearer were caused by unfair elections. He says that's the reason he has been agitating for electoral reforms before elections. He says as a party, they have to fight for reforms. He says they have to go to elections after reforms. This is a matter that is not negotiable and the people of Uganda have to play their role to ensure reforms.

3: 35 EAT: He says its unfair for some party supporters to say that Besigye does not deserve to be the flag bearer next year when he has been representing the party after being nominated while in prison.

3:30 EAT: Dr Besigye says the support to win elections is already available and that is the reason why poor Ugandans have been contributing money for him during his recent campaign tour.

3: 20 EAT: Dr Besigye says FDC needs a candidate who can mobilise national support to beat President Yoweri Musevi next year. He says FDC is not contesting against the NRM as a party but against a state and all its agencies like police and all intelligence organisations that are supposed to be neutral in an ideal democratic environment.

3:16 EAT: Dr Besigye takes to the podium amidst ululations. The delagates conference has attracted observers from opposition parties. These include among others UPC leader Olara Otunnu, DP vice president Mukasa Mbidde, former Kampala Mayor Nasser Ssebaggala, former Coordinator of Intelligence Services Gen. David Sejusa.

3:10 EAT: Tororo County MP Geoffrey Ekanya and Kumi county MP Patrick Amuriat nominate Dr Kizza Besigye. Mr Amuriat describes Dr Besigye as a seasoned leader and politician who has popularised the party for several years. He says, with Dr Besigye, FDC will 'liberate' Uganda.

3: 00 EAT: After a brief break that was announced by Forum for Democratic Change Electoral Commission chief, Mr Dan Mugarura, to weed out 'uninvited' delegates, party officials are verifying the delegates' register. Only those on the list are being allowed to enter the meeting hall, at Namboole National Stadium, where the voting will take place. Party President Gen Mugisha Muntu and Col. Kizza Besigye, who are vying to carry the party flag during the next general elections are expected to campaign before the final vote.
