Few people have turned up to vote at most of the polling stations. For instance at polling stations like Awalkoko, Adak, Lakwatomer, one or two people are queuing up to vote.
Some of the people we have spoken to say voters are still in their farms and are likely to turn up later in the day.
Agnes Lamaro, a voter from Opti trading center says people prefer voting after in the afternoon when they are done with their garden work.
“We want to finish up with the garden work before we engage in voting. Because when we get to vote, we shall be there up to the time of vote counting,” she said.
At other polling stations, EC officials are set with all voting materials, but voters are nowhere in sight.
FDC candidate for the woman MP seat, Ms Prossy Owiny Alanyo, in an interview with Daily Monitor claimed alleged that her voters were intimidated in the night.
“A lot of intimidation is ongoing and it started in the night. We are being intimidated by NRM people,” she said.
Area FDC Secretary for Publicity Mr Oyat Chagga, claims FDC supporters were attacked last night by a section of NRM youth in Ongako sub-county.
He added that some NRM leaders have been involved in ballot stuffing. Mr Oyat has also accused NRM leaders of ferrying voters to polling stations from neighboring districts of Pader and Oyam to engage in the voting exercise.
NRM on the other hand is also accusing FDC of distributing maize seeds in exchange of votes.
Mr Denis Ebong, the Omoro District Registrar, however told Daily Monitor in an interview on Monday that such reports have not been officially filed with the commission.
“All the candidates agents were there keeping the ballot materials, even when we began dispatching them to the various polling stations they escorted us and saw all the processes. It’s not true that votes have been stuffed,” Mr Ebong said.
Aswa Regional Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, when contacted said he has not registered any case of intimidation against FDC supporters and urged them to file complaints with the police.
