In Summary
According to the officer in-charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Luweero Police station, Ms Francis Nyamitala, the girl who identifies herself as Allen Nakafeero has been at the police for more than four weeks.
Police in Luweero are stuck with a 16-year-old girl whose relatives cannot be identified due to the contradicting statements the girl gives.
According to the officer in-charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Luweero Police station, Ms Francis Nyamitala, the girl who identifies herself as Allen Nakafeero has been at the police for more than four weeks.
“We have tried all means by sending our officers to some of the places she mentions, but we end up with nothing. She keeps changing statements regarding the area where she came from,” Ms Nyamitala said.
“We tried Wakiso District where she first mentioned, but failed. She has finally mentioned a village in Nakaseke District where we want to get in touch with officials for help.”
Police now suspect that the girl could have a mental problem though she looks normal.
The girl is said to have gone to a Kampala-based SDA Church to be prayed for before heading to Luweero.
The girl claims that the church organised some money to transport her to Luweero after telling them that it was her home town.
Luweero Police last year recorded about 80 cases of child neglect, including 18 cases of abandoned children.
