Police in Kampala have arrested Nakawa Division Member of Parliament Michael Andrew Kabaziguruka under unclear circumstances.
Police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga on Wednesday said Mr Kabaziguruka, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member was arrested from his home in Luzira at around 5am and is in police custody at Special Investigations Division, Kireka.

“The circumstances under which they (the MP and another person) were arrested are very sensitive, and although we cannot divulge any further details at this stage for fear of jeopardizing our investigations, we can only confirm to you that the suspects are helping us with investigations, into some very serious offences that involve other suspects as well,” said Mr Enanga in a statement dated June 8.
Mr Kabaziguruka defeated National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s Fred Ruhindi in the February 18 parliamentary elections.

Kabaziguruka emerged winner after getting 35,052 votes representing 37.01 percent of the total valid votes. Ruhindi polled 33,578 votes representing 35.45 percent of the total votes.

He is the deputy chairperson of FDC Electoral Commission.
