MP Nebanda’s death: Adam Kalungi is a free man

Adam Kalungi, former boyfriend of Butaleja Woman MP, Cerinah Nebanda is now a free man.

The High Court on Friday afternoon dropped charges of manslaughter against him. Justice Lameck Mukasa after re-evaluating evidence noted that Kalungi tried his level best as a lay person in his capacity as a procurement specialist and administered first aid to Ms Cerinah Nebanda.

The Judge thus quashed the conviction and set aside the sentence handed to Adam Kalungi in the lower court, making him a free man.

He also noted that Kalungi called a near by medical doctor who delayed to take Nebanda to hospital on top of administering a wrong drug, hence wondered why the medical doctor was not the one convicted.

However, Kalungi's co-accused, Mr Omar had his one year sentence upheld over possession of drugs and he was sent back to Luzira.

Mr Kalungi was in January this year sentenced to four years in Luzira prison by Makindye Chief Magistrate’s court for negligently causing the death of Ms Nebanda by omission.
