MP Zaake cleared to travel to India for further treatment

Ailing Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Francis Zaake is Monday set to fly to India after he was cleared by police to travel for further medical treatment.
Police on Monday preferred charges of treason and escaping from custody against the bedridden MP before releasing him on bond.
Mr Zaake was then whisked away in an AAR ambulance to Entebbe Airport.
Relatives say the MP will leave later tonight.

MP Zaake charged with treason, released on bond

The ailing was also charged with escaping from custody before he was granted bond on conditions that he re-appears at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters on October 3, 2018

According to the bond form signed on September 3, a copy of which Daily Monitor has seen, the MP is required to re-appear at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters on October 3, 2018.
Police say the MP declined to sign the bond form in the presence of one of his lawyers, Mr Nicholas Opio.

Police say the charges are as a result of the role he played in the August 13 chaos the day before the election of Arua Municipality MP.
Mr Kassiano Wadri who was at the time in police custody over treason charges was declared winner.
