LUWEERO- The Uganda Women Parliamentary Association has demanded for the immediate prosecution of two teachers who allegedly defiled and later aided a Primary Seven pupil in Luweero District to carry out an abortion, leading to abdominal complications last
week.
The MPs led by their chairperson, Ms Monica Amoding, visited the victim at Luweero Health Centre IV last Friday.

They blamed police for delaying to produce the suspect in their custody in court since the victim also links the head teacher to the incident.

Last week, police arrested the head teacher of St. Joseph Bukomba PS as he took a 16-year-old pupil to Luweero Health Centre IV to receive treatment after an abortion.

“We need justice for this girl since the prime suspect is under your custody,” Ms Amoding told the police at Luweero Central Police.

The head teacher, according to police, faces charges of neglect of duty for allegedly concealing the defilement when he tried to protect one of his teachers who allegedly impregnated the girl and fled. UWOPA publicist Pamela Nasiyo said the school lacks a matron leaving the girls at the mercy of irresponsible male teachers.

The head teacher, who was paraded before the MPs denied defiling the girl, claiming the latter informed him in July that she was pregnant.

“We decided to procure an abortion to save her studies. Unfortunately, her condition worsened and we transferred her to Luweero Health Centre for treatment,” he said.
