MTN workers, Makerere students die in accident

Kampala- Five people died last evening after their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision at Nakitoma, along Kampala-Gulu highway in Nakasongola District, Police said yesterday.
According to the Central region police spokesperson, Mr Lameck Kigozi, the accident which he said occurred at 2pm was as a result of reckless driving.
“The head-on collision was that saw five people die on spot was as a result of reckless driving,” Mr Kigozi said when contacted yesterday. He also told the Daily Monitor that the vehicle, had three occupants who all died on spot. Two of the three occupants of the other vehicle also died as one remains in critical condition.
Two of those who died were students of Makerere University School of Public Health who were returning from a research mission in northern Uganda and their driver. The others were employees of MTN Uganda. Liz Nakitende survived but is nursing injuries.
