KAMPALA-The  Vice chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for Western region, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza,  has sued a former High Court Judge Ralph Ochan, over alleged breach of a land purchase agreement.

Court records show that Maj Gen Kyaligonza in 2012, entered into a partnership with the retired judge to purchase five acres of land from Uganda Investment Authority under a lease basis.

The land in question was situated in Namanve Industrial Park, in Mukono District in Kyadondo Block No.5022.

According to the agreement, Maj Gen Kyaligonza and the retired judge were supposed to raise Shs750 million to buy the land.

To that effect, Maj Gen Kyaligonza contributed Shs370 million but Justice Ochan did not fulfil his obligation which is likely to cause him a loss.

Justice Ochan is sued alongside Masindi Livestock Cereal and Cane Development Limited where he is a director.

The commercial court has since sent this matter for mediation under a new policy that requires parties in civil cases to negotiate outside court .
