Makerere suspends 17 students for cheating exams, forging examination permits

Makerere University School of Distance and Lifelong Learning (SODLL) have suspended 17 students for cheating examinations and forging examination permit during the 2017/2018 academic year.

According to the circular issued by the college registrar, Mr Tom Otim, dated February 8, 2018, some students have been suspended indefinitely for cheating examinations and forging permits while others have been suspended for two years and one year over the same matter.

"The SODLL examination malpractice and irregularities committee sat and took decisions on students who were involved in various forms of malpractice during the 2017/2018 examinations," Mr Otim quotes on the circular.

According to the notice, four out of the 17 students including; Alex Kintu, Elvis Ounde, Winifred Nnakyeyune and Ruth Kayaga have been indefinitely suspended for forging examination permits.

Five students including; Martha Atuheire, Lawrence Kiwika, Sharon Namanya, Angela Awori and Grace Kiyemba have been suspended for two academic years for forging examination permits.

Three students including; Hope Katushabe, Ciccy Kanyiginga and Anna Mirembe have been cautioned and results cancelled for cheating examinations.

Four students including; Swabrah Nkyazze, Stella Biraalo, Racheal Lilian Kanyesigye and Shiforah Prishaba have been suspended for one academic year for cheating exams.

While one student, Dickson Oscar, has been suspended indefinitely for cheating examinations
