Kasese- Police in Kasese District are holding a 30-year-old man accused of burning to death his wife and his 10-month-old daughter.
Rwenzori region police spokesperson Bashir Bakari Mugah, said the suspect, a resident of Musenene Town Council in Nyakihumbu Sub-county, Kasese District was arrested after residents alerted police that he had burnt his wife to death.
Police said the suspect set fire on his wife, Stella Masika and their daughter after developing a misunderstanding.

The suspect, according to police, developed a sharp misunderstanding with his deceased wife after marrying a second woman. Police said Masika confronted the suspect after he had picked a mattress from her house to take to the new wife and this developed into a bitter exchange.

Details and investigations into the matter point to the as the main suspect in the arson attack.
Ms Bakari said detectives had established that the suspect torched the two victims using a mosquito net that he set on fire inside the house.

Masika, who was burnt severely was rushed to hospital but later died. The suspect, according to Mr Bakari, is being held at police and is likely to be charged with murder.
