Man buried alive

A man identified as Alex Kimpasi from Kancerere village has died instantly after he was covered by sand in Kiruruma cell Kihiihi Town council in Kanungu District.
Eyewitnesses say he was filling a truck when the wall of the sand tunnel collapsed 15 feet down covering him underground.
Kimpasi, a casual labourer had visited his relatives who stay near by the sand mine.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Mr Elly Maate said he was waiting a full report but Kimpasi’s body was at Kihiihi police station waiting postmortem.
He was reportedly covered at about 1:00pm but the body was retrieved at about 5:30pm.
Aidah Majembe, the aunt to the deceased said he had spent two weeks at her place planning to go back home.
"He was working to get money for his transport back home and that was supposed to be his last job. He has been working for Shs4,000 filling a truck and he needed Shs10000 for transport," she said.
