Man commits suicide at in-law’s home

Residents of Mawangala Village in Njeru Municipality in Buikwe District were shocked to see a 42-year-old man`s body hanging on one of the trees at his in-law’s home on Thursday morning.

The deceased, according to Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson Ms Hellen Butoto, committed suicide following a quarrel (misunderstanding) with his wife Ms Ketty Nabunjo (32) at her parent`s home.

Ms Butoto identified the deceased as Sowedi Bakhaki, a resident of Namabu village Nyenga Division Njeru Municipality Buikwe district whose body was taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.

“The cause of the incident is domestic violence between the late and his wife who had gone to their home and he followed her. Unfortunately we cannot establish what exactly happened before killing himself by hanging,” said Ms Butoto.
However some sources who requested not to be quoted revealed that the deceased was a witch doctor in the community, an issue police said they are investigating. No arrests had been made by press time.
