KAMPALA. Police in Kampala have started investigating circumstances under which a man reportedly died inside a born-again church.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, said 38-year-old Michael Jjuuko was sighted on Wednesday morning by residents who were passing by Evangelist Church in Nsambya, a Kampala suburb.
Police said the body had no bruises, wounds or cuts like it is usually the case in murder cases. This, he says, would imply a natural death, suffocation or poisoning.

“There was no blood at the scene and there were no signs that he struggled to defend self. However, we are investigating events that led to his death and we have taken his body to the mortuary for autopsy,” Mr Owoyesigyire said.
Police said Jjuuko was known to many residents in the area since he was often drunk. However, residents said they had never seen Jjuuko entering the church in which he died.

“We have recorded statements from neighbours who knew this man and his conduct. They said he was not known as a worshipper, but a drunkard,” Mr Owoyesigyire said.
Police interrogated Ms Roseline Nansubuga, the church proprietor, who reportedly said she was not aware of Jjuuko’s presence in her church. Locals suspect Jjuuko could have succumbed to alcohol and hunger since he had no wife or relative to look after him.
