Mayuge: Residents of Kigulamo village in Mpungwe Sub County in Mayuge district have lynched a 36 year old man for killing his step mother over land.
Angry residents mobbed up and stoned Wilson Mugoya to death after getting information that he had murdered his step mother Zei Mutesi, 60.

The Mugoya is said to have followed his mother upto the potato garden where he hacked her with a hoe.
Mutesi had gone to the garden with her 5-year-old grandchild Amisi Ikoza who witnessed the battle and ran to the trading centre and informed locals.
“I was looking for mushrooms as the grandmother looked for potatoes and all of a sudden that man came and attacked her. He hit her with a hoe on the head and used that very hoe to cut her,” the boy reportedly told police.

On finding the body of Mutesi lying in the potato garden, residents mounted a search for the suspect, who was found hiding in the nearby sugarcane and killed him.
The village LC I chairman Sharif Basoga said the two have for the last two years been bickering over a 60 by 200 ft piece of land that was left by the late Zei Mukama.
He said the clan sat and divided out the land to end the wrangle but the step son still wanted to take the whole land.
Mayuge police after documenting the two scenes handed the two bodies to the relatives for burial.

The officer incharge criminal investigations in Mayuge district Nassar Mulimira faulted the LCI council for not informing police about the land wrangle even after learning that it had turned deadly.
“We condemn mob action and the act by LC1 officials. The officials knew that the man was threatening the life of the step mother but they did not report to us. If we had intervened this perhaps would not have happened”Mr Mulimira told reporters.
