Three people have been confirmed dead and seven others seriously injured in an accident involving seven vehicles at Katende in Mpigi district on Masaka Road.
One of the dead has been identified as Sarah Nalukonge from Bweyogerere, Wakiso district.
The injured were on Wednesday rushed to Mulago hospital in critical condition.

Some of the vehicles involved included a canter, taxi (registration number UAV 997Y) and a lorry (registration number UAG 918B).
Mr Philip Mukasa, the Katonga police regional spokesperson attributed the cause of the accident to over speeding and reckless driving by the lorry driver.
“It was raining and the road was so slippery. The taxi was knocked by two vehicles; a speeding lorry that was carrying matooke from Masaka and a Canter carrying milk cans,” he added.

When asked if police had arrested anyone, Mr Mukasa said no arrests have been made so far but police was still investigating the accident.
“We did not arrest anyone. We advised the lorry driver (who was driving recklessly) to go to the hospital because he had also been seriously injured,” he said.
