Education Minister Jessica Alupo, who has been pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy at Makerere University, is likely to miss the graduation due next Tuesday.
Ms Alupo is reportedly yet to meet the dissertation requirement.

Sources at the university told the Sunday Monitor yesterday that Ms Alupo’s dissertation contained some errors and the university administrators gave her a month to correct them.
This means the minister could wait for another year to graduate. According to an addendum list which the 90-year-old university released last week, the minister did not appear among the nine names that were added in her course.

But when contacted yesterday, Ms Alupo said despite having issues with her dissertation, she had addressed them and she is among the graduands.

“What I know is that they told me to correct a few mistakes, I signed a compliance report; I amended my report and handed it in before I headed to Kyankwanzi,” Ms Alupo said by telephone.
She added: “But yesterday [Friday] I received a call and they told me that I should go for graduation.”

Prof. Murindwa Rutanga, who chaired the committee, declined to divulge any information.
“I do not own the university. I think you should talk to the VC (Vice Chancellor),” Prof. Rutanga said before hanging up.
