The rival of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah  in the February 18  Omoro County Parliamentary polls, who went missing on Wednesday has showed up in  Kampala City.

Mr Simon Toolit Akecha, who lost to Mr Oulanyah in hotly-contested polls, took himself to Kira Road Police Station at 5 am on Saturday.  Mr Akecha told police that he had been dumped by his abductors on Kira Road near the police station.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Patrick Onyango, confirmed the development adding that detectives have recorded a statement from the politician.

“Detectives have recorded his statement and investigations have started to establish how he ended up in Kampala,” Mr Onyango said.

Mr Akecha is said to have been abducted from his home in Gulu District by three armed men, who put him in a waiting vehicle and drove off on Wednesday.

Mr Onyango said Mr Akecha told them that after bundling him in the car, he was blindfolded.

“He said he only realized that they had reached Corner Kamdini when their car hit a hump making the cloth that was used to blindfold him loosen. He said his abductors later realised and tightened the cloth,” Mr Onyango said.

Mr Akecha told police that he was driven to unknown areas, but realised he was in a traffic jam. Later on, Mr Akecha says, he was driven to a house and bundled in a garage where he was kept until Friday night when he was ordered to get into the same car again after being blindfolded

Mr Akecha told police that he was driven for some time and then pushed out of the car on Kira Road.
