Mumbere: Leaders petition Museveni

The Kasese District chairperson, Mr Tembo Bigogo, has asked President Museveni to free King Wesley Mumbere who was arrested in 2016 over various charges, including treason.
“If there is something that went wrong, we can rectify it. On behalf of the local leadership in the Rwenzori Sub-region, we request for the release of our king,” he said.

Mr Bigogo asked the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, who represented the President at the World Wildlife Day celebrations at Nyakasanga Playgrounds last week, to covey their plea to the President.

Mr Robert Centenary, the Kasese Municipality MP, said insecurity was affecting tourism in the Rwenzori Sub-region.
“This region is Uganda’s heart for tourism, we should promote peace to attract more tourists,” he said.

“We must defeat this syndicate. Poachers must know that we have defeated terrorists and we are coming for them,” he said.
