  • Namaganda was killed in a car accident at Mpanga Forest reserve near Mpigi town council along Masaka-Kampala Highway.

The Democratic Party President Norbert Mao says Ugandans are so desperate for change that they no longer care to whom President Museveni hands over power peacefully.
According to Mr Mao, just like many Ugandans especially those born after Museveni captured power in 1986; he does not care whether the president hands over peacefully to his son Muhoozi Keinerugaba or wife Janet Kataha Museveni.

Muhoozi is the commander of the Special Forces Command, an elite force within the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) while Janet is the Minister of Education and Sports.
Mao was speaking as chief guest at the last funeral rites for Suzan Namaganda, the former Bukomansimbi Woman MP who died in a road motor accident last year. The function took place at Kawoko village in Butenga Sub County in Bukomansimbi District.
Mr Mao observed that President Museveni has made commendable contribution to this country but it is sad that majority of Ugandans are desperate to see another leader peacefully take over.

Mr Mao also blasted Buganda for helping Museveni stay in power saying being the largest population, they should have voted Museveni out of power.
MP Betty Nambooze of Mukono Municipality, who is also the Buganda region Democratic Party Vice President, said Buganda region should use the upcoming local council elections and vote Democratic Party chairpersons only.
She explained that if Buganda can say no to NRM local council chairpersons in favour of DP counterparts, there will be no doubt Mr Museveni will be gone.

Mr Joseph Ssewungu, the Member of Parliament for Kalungu West noted that disorganisation in DP is the reason they have never captured power.
The last time DP, the oldest political party in Uganda, tested power was in 1961 when Ben Kiwanuka led the party to victory shortly before Uganda gained independence in 1962.
MP Ssewungu explained that the party members are always bickering which gives chance to their main rival NRM to defeat them.

But Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, the State Minister for Micro Finance who was also at the same venue told DP leaders that there is no need to have another president since Mr Museveni was still very strong. He explained that Museveni is tested, strong and is committed to get Ugandans to the middle income status.
Mr Kasolo, who is also Member of Parliament for Kyotera County, told DP leaders that they shouldn't seek change for the sake of it.
