President Museveni has promised to arrange a private meeting to reconcile two NRM leaders in the newly created Rubanda District.

Rubanda East MP Henry Musasizi and the NRM flag bearer for the LC5 seat, Mr Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema, do not see eye-to-eye, because the legislator allegedly refused to back him during the party primaries. Local leaders also accuse Mr Musasizi of supporting independent candidates instead of party flag bearers.

While campaigning for NRM flag bearers for the District Woman and LC5 seats on Tuesday, Mr Museveni invited Mr Musasizi and Mr Biryabarema to the podium in an attempt to to reconcile them but the MP rejected the public reconciliation.

“Your excellence this is not the right place for resolving such issues. I kindly request you to organise a reconciliatory meeting in a private and place but not here at the rally,” said Mr Musasizi.

The President accepted to organise the private meeting and advised party members to avoid dragging petty issues of religion and tribe into the political process to divide the masses.
“Vote people of your choice as long as they are putting on yellow. People should not be divided along religion and tribe,” said Mr Museveni.
