Former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has said it is because of the poor leadership of President Museveni that doctors are failing to perform as expected.
Speaking at the nomination rally for FDC candidate Ms Betty Muzanira at Rukungiri Stadium, Dr Besigye said Mr Museveni’s attack on doctors for striking over poor pay indicates that he has failed to manage the country.
“The bad doctors are as a result of poor leadership. We need to change leadership. Mr Museveni has convicted himself that in 32 years [he has been in power], he has failed to have good doctors in Uganda. He should leave the country to people who can make better doctors,” said Dr Besigye, who once worked as Mr Museveni's physician during the guerrilla warfare that brought him into power in 1986.
