Change. Dr Besigye says people should vote a leader who will serve them not one who is selfish.

KASESE. The Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Beisgye, yesterday told his supporters in Kasese district that President Museveni’s manifesto proposals are deceptive and should not be believed.
“If Museveni has not achieved what he promised in 1986, he cannot achieve it in five years,” Dr Besigye said at a rally in Kahendero, Busongora North yesterday.

Dr Besigye, who is currently on the campaign trail in the district, said President Museveni had promised to build roads, schools and hospitals for fishing communities but has reneged on the promises.
He rallied his supporters to vote in big numbers on February 18. “Government has not assisted the fishing communities. You should all come out and vote for a leader who will serve you, not those who are selfish,” the FDC leader said.

Impounding nets
Dr Besigye questioned why officials from the Ministry of Fisheries were impounding and burning people’s fishing nets, yet it’s the same government department that does quality control before these nets are sold to the fishermen.
The FDC chairman Kasese district, Paul Mate told the NRM supporters who were dressed in Museveni T-shirts and had lined up on the roads where Dr Besigye was passing to stop provocative behaviour. “This is provocation but we shall ignore them,” Mr Matte said.

Dr Besigye also addressed a rally in Bugando village, Busongora North, where there were tribal clashes between Basongora, Bamba and Bakonjo last year that left about 90 people including security personnel dead.
Dr Besigye had addressed three rallies by 2pm and was headed for the main rally in Kasese municipality, which has been his stronghold.
