Museveni scared of losing power - Muntu

BUDAKA.

The FDC president, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, has said President Museveni’s fear to lose state power is the reason he has monopolised the NRM’s top post.

“Mr Museveni fears to lose power, and that is the reason he has continued to ring-fence his candidature to stand as sole candidate. Anybody who attempts to step into his shoes meets hot fire. This is being experienced between him and his longtime ally (Amama) Mbabazi,” Gen Muntu told FDC delegates from Bukedi sub-region on Thursday.

Maj Gen Muntu and his predecessor, Dr Kizza Besigye, are currently traversing the country, seeking endorsement as party flag bearer in the 2016 presidential election.
“President Museveni does not totally fear Besigye, Muntu, Mbabazi or Bukenya but fears strengthened organisation and cohesion. That is making him to have sleepless nights,” Maj Gen Muntu told the delegates.

He asked them to elect him as party’s presidential flag bearer during FDC elections on September 2.
He said during his two and half year tenure, FDC has grown stronger despite some challenges.

As the delegates meeting was moving on, police attempted to stop it on account that they had not been notified. However, the meeting was later allowed to proceed.
