Muslim Union speaks out against acts of terrorism

KAMPALA
Muslim leaders meeting in Kampala have condemned acts of terrorism pointing out that that they tarnish their religion.
Speaking during an emergency meeting held at Hotel Africana, the Grand Mufti of Zambia Sheikh Assadullah Mwale said that terrorism is often done by people associated with Islam but that does not imply Islam tolerates it.
“Islam teachings call for peace and we are meeting here in Uganda to discuss problems affecting us,” he said.
The meeting brought together the World Islam Call Society Uganda and Union of Muslims Council.
He said that through the meeting, the two bodies discussed ways to bring back peace among Africa countries plagued by instability.
“We call for peace and unity in all Africa countries and even call upon terrorists who brand themselves as Muslim to stop bad acts of killing innocent people because they tarnish our name as Muslims in the whole world,” Sheikh Mwale said.
Sheikh Abdallah Mangala from DRC called upon the Muslim community in Uganda to embrace non-Muslims as brothers and sisters regardless of their religion.
“We Africans believe in different faiths but we remain human and I advise all people to love one another and we move on than creating hostility between different religions” said Mangala.
