NRM boss jailed over failure to pay court fees

Court in Masindi has sentenced the Masindi Central Division NRM Returning Officer, Jackson Byabakama to six months at Masindi main prison for failure to pay Shs9, 722,000 in debts.

The money was supposed to be paid to Mr James Magadu, a business man in Masindi District.

The convict was arrested was arrested today (Wednesday) at 6am by Ms Florence Katusabe of M/s Flokats court brokers and bailiffs at his home in Masindi town and brought before Masindi Assistant Registrar, Mr Simon Kintu Byabakama.

This followed the April 17 letter signed by the assistant register Masindi court ordering for the arrest of Byabakama for failure to pay Mr Magadu the money as court costs awarded to him in a judgment at Masindi high court in February 2017.

Byabakama unsuccessfully sued Mr Magadu for buying a commercial house on plot 12 in Masindi town.
