NRM’s Lumumba camps in Jinja ahead of by-election

NRM secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba

As campaigns for the Jinja East MP by-election continue, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba has camped in the district where she has conducted several mini rallies at village levels aimed at rallying support for the party candidate Nathan Igeme Nabetha.

The exercise that started from Nile Crescent LCI, Old Boma parish has seen Ms Lumumba moving as far as Ripon and Dolwe landing sites among several other places. Clad in a black long skirt and a yellow party blouse, Ms Lumumba reached out to many voters including boda boss cyclists, carpenters and fishermen some of whom she interacted with from their canoes.

At all meetings, the SG delivered messages of reconciliation and teamwork from the national chairperson and President Museveni. She also urged residents to vote the NRM candidate for continued prosperity. She offered herself to pair up with Igeme in ensuring that the pending government pledges are realised.

Her presence left several party members excited and hailed her for a motherly approach to issues. Lumumba who was flanked by Mr Igeme urged the local leaders at the landing sites to mobilise their people into forming working groups in order to access government assistance easily.
She was also in company of MPs Moses Walyomu (Kagoma) and Taaka Agnes Wejuli, the woman representative for Bugiri District.
On his side Igeme took time to apologise to his voters for any wrongs he could have committed if any. He also urged them to turn up in big numbers to receive the President when he visits the constituency on March 13 to conclude the campaigns.
