KAMPALA.

Salim Uhuru, the ruling National Resistance Movemnet (NRM) chairman for Kampala central, is the new Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC), replacing the outgoing Bbosa Kiyingi.

Uhuru, of the Uhuru Restaurants food chain, was pronounced unopposed like all his new executive members, by returning officer Hassan Kirunda at the annual general assembly at Mt. Zion Hotel in Kampala Saturday afternoon. Uhuru has been the vice president-administration in Bbosa Kiyingi's regime and now takes the top spot for the next four years.

"This victory is your victory, I'm ready to shoulder the burden of my predecessor, and you will see some change," Uhuru said in checkered Luganda.

"It won't be my duty alone. It will be our duty." It's been a case of swapping roles, as all but one candidates belonged to the previous executive.
