Nakasongola RDC is new Busongora leader
Mr Apollo Bwebale, the new cultural leader of the Basongora community
Kasese- Mr Apollo Bwebale, the Nakasongola Resident District Commissioner, has been chosen as the cultural leader of the Basongora community in Kasese District.
This is after his father Ivan Bwebale Rutakirwa Agutamba Rwigi IV succumbed to prostate cancer last week at Kadic Hospital in Kampala.
The late Bwebale had been leading the Basongora since 2012.
Mr Bwebale, the eldest son of the deceased, was introduced to the mourners by institution’s prime minister Samuel Ntungwa shortly before his father’s burial at Muhokya at the weekend.
He was handed a grazing stick and made to sit in an improvised seat just behind his father’s casket. Mr Bwebale was then led out of the burial grounds.
The burial ceremony was fired up by jubilations acknowledging the new cultural leader.
Addressing mourners after being introduced, Mr Bwebale commended the NRM government for restoring and supporting cultural institutions. “There is nothing wrong for 100 kings to be in one district as long as there is unity,” Mr Bwebale said.
