Namutumba MP tips men on good sex

Namutumba Woman MP Florence Mutyabule

KAMPALA- The Woman MP for Namutumba District, Ms Florence Mutyabule, has tipped men on how to spice up their bedroom matters.

Ms Mutyabule said mastering the tips and applying them in their daily lives will lead to a harmonious relationship between women and men living happily.

The MP was speaking to her constituents at the launch of a new Shs130 million facility for gender-based violence victims last week.

She said women were losing interest in sex due to violence meted out to them by their men yet they are entitled to good sex.

“When you batter your wife, by the time you get to the bedroom, she is disinterested already. Stop this violence and you will see,” Ms Mutyabule said last week at a cheering crowd of women.

She, however, urged women to remain submissive to their husbands, saying such violence is sometimes caused by disrespect.

Ms Rita Achiro, the executive director of Uganda Women Network (Uwonet), who built the shelter, quoting different studies, said 70 per cent of women worldwide continue to experience gender-based violence.

Ms Achiro said such shelters were setup in different regions of the country to help victims get justice or reconcile with their husbands at a time when they do not have where to go, adding that Busoga has the highest cases of gender-based violence.

The State Minister for Gender, Ms Rukia Nakadama, said the region should address gender-based violence decisively to avoid its outcomes.

She listed the causes of violence as divorce, pupils dropping out of school that leads to early marriages and subsequent poverty and malnutrition.

“I hope this shelter will not bring more violence…This shelter is not a permanent home and we will inspect it,” Ms Nakadama said.

She also appealed to police to use the stationary and other assortments donated by Uwonet to register and attend to women and children’s cases.
