Namutumba head teacher knocked dead, driver on the run

Police are searching for the driver of the car which knocked dead Geoffrey Magoola, the head teacher of Nawampandu Seed Secondary School in Namutumba District.

Magoola was knocked dead last night at Bukona village along Iganga- Mbale road.

Busoga East Police region spokesman, Mr James Mubi told this reporter that Magoola’s body was taken to Iganga regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the driver was speeding when he lost control and knocked Magoola at about 9:30pm.

"We are doing our best as police to see that we get details of the vehicle and the particulars of the driver who is now on the run. However, some eye witnesses told police that the vehicle was coming from Tirinyi side heading to Iganga. Magoola was riding his motorcycle returning to his home in Nawandala in Iganga District when the accident happened," Mr Mubi said.

The deceased, according to a message from Kira Road Division Police Commander, Mr Michael Kasigyire, was knocked dead by a speeding car


Mr Mubi urged anyone with details of the driver and vehicle to report to police.

Magoola’s deputy, Ms Beatrice Basekananyo said: “We were shocked last night when we heard that Mr Magoola was killed in an accident while on his way back home. We are going to miss him for the parental love and commitment he has been showing us.”
